Little Known Ways to Rock&Roll (2019)

“A performance-concert about freedom, youth, self destruction, and the desire to transcend human existence with cheap beer and loud noise.” Little Known Ways To Rock&Roll was first presented at Le Lac in Brussels in 2019 and was shown again in early 2020 as a double bill with french performance artist Clara Thomine, right before every single performance venue was shut down due to the pandemic. I was originally invited to sing some of my songs, but in the end I decided that I wanted to make something that started to question and deconstruct the figure of the singing male figure on stage. Though this show was a bit rough around the edges, it ended up being foundational for following works such as Songs of Men*.

In retrospect, it’s pretty ironic that the last show I would do before the entire world became socially distanced would be about getting dumb and sweaty with as many people as possible in a confined space.
